San Diego Comic-con 2005

Back for another round!  This time my brother and I spent 5 days!  Including preview night where we made some sweet purchases.  I got a ton of autographs this year from very special people.  Lets just saw I lucked out big time!  And we also got to see tons of Hollywood folks: Jamie Foxx, Jessica Biel, Naomi Watts, Adrian Brody, Natalie Portman, Rachael Weisz, Darren Aronofsky, half the cast to Battlestar Galactica and much more.  Jack Black showed up for King Kong and he even performed as Tenacious D!!!  Free concert from some talented musicians.  Seriously, coolest thing ever (I know I say this every time there's comic con).  I even met my childhood heroes Todd MacFarlane and Matt Groening.  And I met Orson Scott Card, author of Ender's Game.  How bout Ashley Wood?  Enough talk!  Just look at the pics.  Most of them are of the guests on the jumbo screen cuz my camera couldn't pic them up in the dimly lit Hall H.

The classic shot.  What an amazing building.

Line just to get in the damn exhibition hall for the day.  This wrapped around the whole building.

Forgot what these guys were signing for.  Note Brent Spiner (Data) on the right and Carla Gugino (Sin City).

Jack Black, Naomi, and Adrian were unannounced guests for King Kong.  Heck ya!

Jack Black!

Naomi Watts...so gorgeous...

Promoting Stealth.  I'd never watch that movie, but hey, at least I got to see Jessica Biel and Jamie Foxx.

Jamie Foxx about to yell at a fan.  Actually, I can't remember exactly what he said after this.

Eva Longoria and Mark Johnson, the director of Ghost Rider.

A nice view of the outdoors.  I think this guy is lost...

Jon Heder, Mr. Napolean Dynamite promoting his figures from Todd MacFarlane.

Todd MacFarlane on the mic!  He was an awesome person.  There was definitely something surreal meeting this guy.  He seriously inspired so much in me.  So cool!

The beautiful Natalie Portman, even if she has no hair...  The line to see her was incredibly long, but well worth it.  She also happens to be just as sweet as I imagined.

Darren Aronofsky (director of Pi, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream) holding it down with Rachel Weisz (who happens to be his wife, whom you know her from The Mummy and other films).

Battlestar Galactica panel.  Grace Park, Jamie Bamber, Katie Sackhoff, Mary McDonnell, and James Callis and some producers including Ron Moore were all there.  This was the most educated panel, which included some very educated questions from the audience.  This is what got me so into the show.  Damn its good!  Watch it now!!

Grace Park representing Battlestar Galactica.

Lance Henrickson (Millenium, Aliens).

Give me some suga baby!!!  The great Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Bubba Hotep).

This was the line to see Natalie Portman.  Well, maybe 1% of the line.

My brother's dvd signed and drawn by Bill Morrison.

Yes, this is the great Matt Groening, the mastermind behind The Simpsons and Futurama.  He was completely unannounced and my brother complete lucked out.  Most amazing thing ever (again).  He rarely shows up.

Matt Groening signing and drawing on my brother's dvd.

There he is again!  So cool.

Bill Morrison playing with Bender's...stuff.

Comic-con is never complete until the Ugly Dolls show up.

Giant Lego Star Wars ship.

Actual Corpse Bride  puppets.  These were utterly amazing.

Close up shots.

Some of the crew.

Check out the detail!

This is how they animate it.

MacFarlane dragon.

Parts of my haul.  Gotta get the Muppet penguins.  Wage vinyl was too good to pass up.  Low cost Elrond exclusive.  And the uber cool Ashley Wood 'World's Best Robot' statue.  He signed the bottom of base.

This is my uber uber haul.  Nothing can beat these.  I'll go describe from the top left to bottom right.  All autographs were personally signed!.  Spawn comics signed by Todd's new crew, including an autograph from Todd himself!  A Metal Gear Solid comic signed by Ashley Wood and his robot statue.  Return of the King dvd signed by Sala Baker (Sauron) and Richard Taylor (THE WETA guy) and Ben Wooten (WETA).  Futurama dvd signed and drawn on by Matt Groening AND Bill Morrison himself!  Army of Darkness signed by Bruce Campbell.  Spawn fold-out signed by Todd and his crew.  Postcard signed by the WETA guys.  Robota and Ender's Shadow signed by Orson Scott Card.  And a sweet Corpse Bride booklet signed by Mike Johnson (director of Corpse Bride).

Close up on the sketches.  Bender was drawn by Matt and Leela by Bill.  Notice how Bill's looks way better???  Hehe, I'm not complaining!
